Please note these important Fifth Grade Standard Course of Study Goals:

Reading- Inferring, Compare/Contrast, Main Idea and Summarization with longer
texts, reading non-fiction texts for information.

Math- Data collection & display, FRACTIONS, and features of Polygons and measures.
Automatic knowledge of multiplication is needed!!!!

Science- Earth's Landforms, Weather, Ecosystems and Forces & Motion.

Social Studies- The location and spelling of all fifty states, and their capitals. Projects are completed on a states of a child's choice (look for this in January), and later in the year, a biography project on an important historical figure.

National Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week will be October 28-31, 2008
On Tuesday, "Standing Strong Day"- Wear boots or crazy socks to stomp out drugs!
Wednesday- "Inside Out"- wear your clothese inside out.
Thursday- "Hugs not Drugs"- bring a stuffed animal to school.
Friday- "Red Rally"- wear all red.
School Picture Day
School picture day will be on Wednesday, October 22. This will be pay-at-camera.
Quarterly Tests Next Week
First quarter assessments will be administered next week, October 20-24. Thes schedule will be as follows:
Monday- Reading
Tuesday- Math calculator inactive
Wednesday- Math calculator active
First Nine Week AR percent dates
25 % September 8
50%  September 22
75%  October 6
100% October 24
